Hybrid buses from GM to be seen in big numbers soon

King County Metro(Seattle) recieved 1st hybrid bus recently. It is to recieve total of 235 diesel electric buses from GM at the rate of $645,000 per unit.

The GM hybrid buses improves fuel economy by 60% and reduce emissions by 90%(hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide, particulate) and 50%(oxides of nitrogen). The hybrid bus produces better torque from its electric motors and a 50% more acceleration then conventional diesel buses.

The world is running out of oil - if you doubt that statement - pickup one of the books with the Title -
Hubbert's Peak - in it. Because gasoline is relatively
cheap in the US - we haven't embraced conservation but,
its going to be ramped down our throats over the next 15
years. Don't be deluded into believing the propoganda of the Saudi's that they came out with last week. They do not have an additional 70% oil reserves - it's simply not true. Hybrids that get 50+ mpg give an additional 10 to 15 years of life to the gasoline engine.
